Friday Floral – Chocolate Cosmos

The beautiful maroon lobed flower sprouting from these bouquets and arrangements is the Chocolate Cosmos. I find it has similar features to the burgundy Scabiosa but has a small detail separating it from the rest. It actually smells like chocolate! This non edible flower can bring the pop of color to bounce of the traditional white with greenery bouquets. Here are a few of my favorites.

The dahlias and peonies speak for themselves they are just gorgeous but when trying to incorporate fall colors or dark accents the Chocolate Cosmos is a great fit.

The dark flower can reach about 24″ tall so it can easily sprout out of the arrangement like shown above.

These plants are used to dry soils so as long as it is fertile. Be sure to keep this in mind if you are trying to grow them in your own garden.

Both of these bouquets incorporate Dusty Miller leaves which adds a great combination with the Chocolate Cosmos.

During some parts of the season this flower can be almost black it is such a dark shade of maroon.

With the dark center of the Anemone of the bouquet on the right the Cosmos brings the entire theme together.

For arrangements this flower looks great for the woodsy mountain theme.

This flower smells up the room or your bouquet. It is a great way to incorporate a flower that not every one uses on a daily basis. They are also available in pink, white, orange, red, and yellow. They do not have the same scent as the chocolate color does but they still have the same detail and flower design. Be sure to see if this would be the best fit for your flower plan with your florist.
